The list reads like a who's who of athletic greats - with many stars of the Athens and Beijing Paralympic Games. There are also a few new names to watch out for!

Thanks to the fantastic coverage organized by SASCOC with SuperSport we were able to watch the athletes in action and be overawed by their phenomenal achievements and unbelievable team spirit and camaraderie. We salute each and every member of the team - not just the medalists - as well as the coaches and officials who accompanied them, all of them members of SASAPD.

Elite athletes are role models for junior competitors and their presence at local meetings is vitally important. They will all be participating in the forthcoming NEDBANK National Champs For Physically Disabled presented by SASAPD, March 26 - 30 at Rustenburg with the swimming in Pretoria. This is in keeping with SASAPD's vision of hosting the championships in new areas and, hopefully, increasing awareness of sports for the disabled in those areas. Who knows - perhaps a new Oscar or Natalie will be discovered!

The 2011 Nedbank National Champs will include Athletics, Boccia, Cycling, Football 5 and 7 a-side, Goalball, Judo for the blind, Powerlifting and Swimming.
