This 2-day 2-night, fun event was a televised charity event with entries from a variety of vehicles (SLK's, Subaru's, Audie's, Porches, Ferrari's, 4x4's,Lamborghini's) that competed in different disciplines, such as a cryptic clue photo rally, an amazing race aspect and other sporting events.
The event is not a race, but a run, in which all participants are equal and everyone had a blast whilst making a difference to the community.
The 2011 run set out from the Toyota Test Track in Eston and drove through to Franki Banana's in Pietermaritzburg where a motorised wheelchair race was hosted. It was then up to the Natal Midlands and onto the Midlands Meander, with an overnight at the Protea Hotel in Hilton. The next day everyone was off to Winterton, and into the Midlands Meander again, with the end point of the Protea Hotel in Hilton.

When friends attended Dean Murray's birthday party, in February 2010, Annelize, another friend, accompanied them. They introduced Dean to Annelize and the two got chatting. They clicked straight away: says Dean, "She put her arms around me, giving me a hug. Thatfelt good!"
She stayed by his side as he interacted with other guests and he jokingly introduced her as his girlfriend. "While we were having a drink or two, I wheeled up to her and called her name. She looked at me and I kissed her! That was it! The party carried on until the early morning hours. It was time for her to go home and I did not want to lether go. I knew that I had found my soul mate."

After his diving accident in the shallow end of a swimming pool in 1981, Gert Volschenk spent his rehab time learning many forms of occupational and physio therapies. After his discharge, he met Peet van Zyl, a mouth painter, and became inspired. Artists like Jane Crowe and Cynthia Ball kindly tutored him and developed his talent. All painters have their preferences. Gert's was water colours, flowers and seascapes, but he also tried his hand at landscapes. In 1987 he joined MFPA and received a scholarship. Also in 1987, this legend of a man opened the Remme-Los house for quadriplegics in Primrose. He left a huge space in our hearts and in our home at Remme-Los and we miss him dearly, but we also know that he suffered a lot at the end and now he can Rest In Peace.
We will always remember you Gert, our father, our friend and brother.
